  • 1956    In Fort Worth, Texas, D.C. Lewer begins work as an agent for Southland Life Insurance Co. selling life insurance to Rock Island Railroad workers.
  • 1962   D.C. Lewer moves his young insurance agency from Ft. Worth to Kansas City to be more centrally located for serving national accounts.
  • 1963   D.C. Lewer named the No. 1 producing life insurance agent in the US by Insurance Salesman Magazine.
  • 1969   The Lewer Agency moves to the Country Club Plaza, its current location.
  • 1974   Lewer Canada is incorporated.
  • 1980   D.C. Lewer designs the Lewer logo on a napkin in the lobby of the historic Bayerische Hotel in Munich, Germany. The logo becomes a registered trademark in 1994.
  • 1987  Lewer Life Insurance Company is incorporated in June. Later that year, Lewer Life would merge with Presidential Life Insurance Company of America with Lewer Life remaining as the surviving corporation.
  • 1988   Lewer Life Insurance Company hold its first Board of Directors meeting (Original board members: D.C. Lewer, Mike Lewer, David Rittmaster, Kent Carter, Bill Everly, Bill Spies, Bill Mead, Glenn Sowders, and L.E. Barrett)
  • 1991   LewerMark launches when it enrolls its first client school (Edmonds Community College in Washington) into the student insurance program.
  • 1993   LewerMark begins selling and administrating student insurance plans underwritten by General American to universities and colleges in 27 states.
  • 1993   Lewer develops its first Universal Life product in partnership with Kansas City Life.
  • 1994   Mike Lewer appointed as President of The Lewer Agency
  • 1996   The Lewer Agency secures two major accounts: Shaw Industries and Phillips 66.
  • 1997   LewerMark enrolls 34 new client schools within a nine-month period.
  • 1997   First website ( launched.
  • 1997   The company’s fourth product division, Lewer Financial Group, is established.
  • 2004   D.C. Lewer retires from daily operations.
  • 2006   LewerMark wins major account with Washington University in St. Louis.
  • 2012   Lewer Financial Advisors opens its doors.
  • 2016   Nik Lewer, the first third-generation family member, joins the company.
  • 2016   Lewer converts its student insurance block of business to to new carrier-partners, Sirius International Insurance Corporation and Brit Global Specialty.
  • 2016   The Lewer Agency celebrates 60th anniversary by announcing the onboarding of a major account, Kiddie Academy.
  • 2017   “The Benton Farm” by artist Thomas Hart Benton, which was displayed in D.C. Lewer’s personal office for almost 40 years, is loaned to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City.
