HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
Passage of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act allows an employee to have portability rights for their health benefits. Employers need to provide eligible persons with credit for waiting periods and prior creditable coverage, and to accept employees and dependents for coverage regardless of their health.
