Supporting our Community
|
Through the years, The Lewer Agency has been involved in a number of local, national, and international service organizations and events including United Way, Harvesters, The National Kidney Foundation, Children’s Mercy Hospital, St. Jude’s Hospital, The Amy Thompson Run to Daylight, the Don Bosco Centers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Global Impact.
The Lewer Agency also has a long history of supporting the arts in Kansas City, such as the Thomas Hart Benton Association and the addition of “Married Love” by Oscar Nemon, a beautiful bronze sculpture added to the Plaza outdoor art collection in 1985 at the intersections of Brush Creek and Wornall Road.
We also support education through the LewerMark Make Your Mark Scholarship program which benefits three college students each year, and we support family and the early career development of our youth through our annual Bring your Daughters and Sons to Work program.
Since 2005, The Lewer Agency has been an active participant in Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), a non-profit organization that educates students on concepts like market economics, entrepreneurship, and business ethics through educational outreach projects. The SIFE USA National Exposition is an event that showcases how students use the positive power of business to make a difference in communities around the country. Business leaders donate their time on the panel of judges at this very exciting annual event – for the judges and the students!
In addition, the Lewer Charitable Fund (LCF), established in 2007, provides associates an opportunity to apply each quarter for a generous contribution from The Lewer Agency to help fund the works of their favorite charitable organizations. Through the LCF program, associates have the opportunity to organize and lead a team of Lewer associates who through their hard work and compassion have come to the aid of those in need of a helping hand not only in the Kansas City metropolitan area, but across the globe.
In every case, we find we get more than we give…
"It was very rewarding to know you can be a part of a holiday-giving. It was priceless to see the smile on the little boy’s face." – Lynnette Hoover, Customer Service Representative
"I have always been able to grub-up donations, shop, give stuff to organizations … but I don't usually do what I did today. It can tear you up when you see people living crumb-to-crumb.” - Jeff Burkett, Manager, Group and Individual Products
"Knowing you’re doing something for sick kids in need is just a really good feeling.” – Coco Owens, Receptionist and LCF Team Captain
